Hours and Admission

The South County History Center Museum, Archive and Library at the Old Washington County Jail is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., except as noted below.

Holiday and Winter Hours:

The Center will be closed on Thursday, November 23, and Saturday, November 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday.  

On Saturday, December 2, the Center will be open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. for Holiday in Kingston Village.

The Center will be closed from December 22, 2017, through February 14, 2018, for the holidays, facilities improvements and intern training.  Research appointments may be available, and interested researchers should submit a research request form online here.
 

Admission Fees to Museum, Archive and Library:

Adults: $8.00

Students (K-college): $6.00*

Active-duty military families: Free

Law enforcement & correctional officers: Free

South County History Center Members: Free

*Students visiting the Archive and Library only receive free admission. 

Research Visits

If you would like to conduct research at the South County History Center, please fill out our research request form (click here) or contact us at least one week in advance to schedule a research appointment.

Research appointments also may be available on days when the Center is normally closed.

Group Tours

If you are interested in a tour for six or more people at the South County History Center, please contact us at least one week in advance.

Accessibility

The historic Old Washington County Jail has many staircases and unfortunately is not handicapped-accessible.
