Plantation Goods tells the story of early America through everyday artifacts, such as woolen dresses stitched in Rhode Island for enslaved women in South Carolina to wear. Following these goods from communities where they were made (including South Kingstown) to the places they were used, Plantation Goods rethinks the geography of slavery and freedom in the early United States and explores what it means to be “complicit.”
