South County History Center Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in learning more about South County’s history, developing research skills, or sharing your knowledge and expertise? Looking for a hobby that you can do from home on your schedule? Or perhaps you would enjoy a few air-conditioned hours each week during the summer months?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, consider one of the following volunteer opportunities at the Center:

  • Researchers (virtual or on-site* Monday-Thursday between 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.): Do you love digging through historical records, old maps, and library books? Consider joining the Center as an on-site or virtual volunteer researcher. On-site volunteers will use the Center’s resources to answer inquiries, assist visiting researchers, and support exhibit development. Virtual volunteers will use online resources to conduct research on new and existing Center collections and help answer inquiries (Ancestry.com access required.)

  • Collections Assistants (on-site* Monday-Thursday between 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.): If you have experience working with museum, archival, or library collections, consider sharing your expertise to preserve and increase access to the Center’s collection. Projects will be tailored to your skills, interests, and availability.

*Our historic headquarters has several staircases and unfortunately is not handicapped-accessible.
